Charles City has recently embarked on a quest to upgrade the telecommunications system in town to all customers, residential, commercial, and industrial. Many communities in Iowa have done this but the added challenge for Charles City was that there is no supporting Municipal Electric Utility to share staff or assist with startup funding. Charles City is researching unique and creative ways to fund the project and provide much-needed improvements to their telecommunications offerings, and are working towards project launch.
